Fall Traditions and Family Memories

Making fall traditions and family memories are easy in Tennessee during the month of October for young and old alike. A perfect family outing is one that includes fun activities, apple cider, barnyard adventures, a corn maze and picking a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. If you live in the Nashville, Franklin or Murfreesboro area, you owe it to yourself to go to the farm that has it all in October entertainment. The name is Lucky Ladd Farms; it is just a thirty minute drive from Nashville and will be well worth the time spent and many family memories will be made.

The following tips will be helpful when you are picking your pumpkins at the pumpkin patch. When picking your pumpkin from the patch, make sure to pick one that is still on the vine and free of any soft spots that can indicate rot or mold. Pick out the correct size of pumpkin that you need for your purpose. If you are baking a pumpkin pie, then a smaller one should be chosen and a bigger one would be good for carving. The stem should still be in tact and the base should be firm and solid. Don’t ever carry your pumpkin by the stem because you will take the risk of breaking the stem off before you even get it home. When you have picked out the perfect pumpkin it will be time to go back to your Murfreesboro home and start carving your jack-o-lantern.

When you are finished carving your jack-o-lantern, you can roast the pumpkin seeds over the fire of your wood burning fireplace while sipping some apple cider. Have a great time with your family this October and enjoy every minute of the brisk fall weather and being together.
